Prescription release

Your prescription is yours

After your exam you get a copy of your glasses prescription. After your contact lens fitting you get a copy of that one too. You can fill either one anywhere you like.

You never have to buy from us to get your prescription, and we do not hold it back to keep your business. If you would like us to fit your frames, we are glad to. If you would rather take it elsewhere, we hand it over.

What you get

  • A glasses prescription after your exam

  • A contact lens prescription after your fitting is complete

  • A copy on paper or by email, as you prefer

  • No charge for asking again later

A pair of thin dark glasses rests on an open book with soft blurred pages

How it works

  • Ask at the end of your visit

The front desk gives you a copy, or sends it to you. If you forget, call us and we will send it.

  • Take it anywhere

A prescription is not tied to the office that wrote it. Another shop, an online seller or a family member can fill it.

  • If you would like it checked

Bring glasses you bought elsewhere and we will check that they match the prescription and sit right.

About your prescription

Do you give me my prescription even if I do not buy glasses here?

Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy after your exam and fitting.

Does a contact lens prescription work the same way?

Yes, once your fitting is complete. We give you a copy so you can fill it anywhere.

How long is a prescription good for?

Dr. Zheng writes the date on it, and tells you when to come back. Ask us if you are not sure whether yours is current.
