Lens options

Lenses chosen for how you use your eyes

The frame is what people see. The lens is what you see through, so we choose it with your prescription and your day in front of us.

What decides the lens

  • Your prescription, from us or another office

  • Screens, driving, reading or all three

  • How thin and light you want the lens

  • What the lens needs to stand up to

The choices

  • Single vision

One prescription across the whole lens, for distance, for near or for the screen in between.

  • Progressive lenses

One lens for far, middle and near, with a fitting visit to learn how to use it.

  • Lens materials

Impact-resistant lenses for sport and work, and thinner, lighter lenses for stronger prescriptions.

  • Coatings

Anti-glare and scratch-resistant coatings, added to the lens.

  • Tints and light-reactive lenses

Lenses that darken in sunlight, and tints chosen for color and comfort.

  • Lens fit

The lens is centered and angled to your eyes and your frame, which matters more as the prescription gets stronger.

How a lens choice goes

It happens at the fitting, with your prescription on the table.

  1. 01

Step 1: Start from the prescription

We read it with you and ask what it has to do for you.

  2. 02

    Step 2: Hear the options

Naveen or Quynh explains each choice, what it adds and what it does not.

  3. 03

    Step 3: Choose, then confirm

You see the total before you order, in writing.

Billing and what to bring

  • How it is billed

A vision plan's eyewear benefit may cover part of your lenses and coatings. We check it before you order, and tell you what is left to pay. Without a plan, we give you a written estimate first.

    How fees work
  • What to bring

    • Your current glasses

    • Your prescription, if it is from another office

    • Your vision plan card, if you have one

Who helps you choose

Naveen explains the lenses. Dr. Zheng answers questions about the prescription behind them.

About lenses

Will I need time to get used to progressive lenses?

Many people do. We show you how to use them at the fitting and adjust them if something feels off.

Can lenses be made thinner?

Often, yes. A stronger prescription benefits most from thinner materials and a frame that suits it.
