Frame fitting

Frames that sit right, then stay there

A frame can look right in the mirror and still slide, pinch or tilt. A fitting is how we find the one that does none of those.

A fitting covers

  • Frame shape and size for your face

  • Bridge and temple fit

  • Where each lens sits in front of each eye

  • A last adjustment when your lenses arrive

What happens at a fitting

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes, with no rush.

  1. 01

Step 1: We talk about your day

Where you wear your glasses, what you do in them and what has bothered you about the last pair.

  2. 02

    Step 2: You try frames

Naveen or Quynh brings shapes to you. You look, compare and set aside, until two or three are left.

  3. 03

    Step 3: We measure

We measure where your pupils sit and how the frame rests on your face, so the lenses are centered where you look through them.

  4. 04

Step 4: We order and adjust

We place the order. When your glasses arrive, you come back for a final adjustment and a check.

Adjustments and repairs

Many small jobs are done while you wait. A part that has to be ordered takes longer, and we tell you so.

  • Tightening and alignment

Frames that slide, tilt or press are bent back to shape.

  • Nose pads and temple tips

Worn pads and tips are replaced so the frame stops slipping.

  • Screws and hinges

A loose or missing screw is a quick fix at the bench.

  • Cleaning and a check

Come in any time for a cleaning and a look over.

Billing and what to bring

  • How it is billed

Many vision plans have an eyewear benefit for frames and lenses. We check it before you order and tell you what is left to pay. Adjustments and small repairs are billed as we describe at the desk, before the work starts.

    How fees work
  • What to bring

    • Your current glasses

    • Your prescription, if it is from another office

    • Your vision plan card, if you have one

    • The frame you want repaired, with any loose parts

Who fits your frames

Naveen and Quynh work side by side at the bench. Dr. Zheng writes the prescription they build on.

  • Naveen Kumar smiles in black-framed glasses and a green sweater

    Naveen Kumar

    Optical assistant

Naveen helps you choose frames and fits them to your face. He knows every shape on the wall and why it sits the way it does.

  • Quynh Bui smiles in glasses and a white shirt against a teal wall

    Optical assistant

Quynh keeps the bench: adjustments, repairs and the last check before your glasses go home with you.

About fittings

Do I need an exam before a fitting?

No. If you have a current prescription, from us or from another office, bring it and we start from there.

How long do new glasses take?

It depends on the frame and the lenses. We tell you when we place the order, and we call when they are ready.

Can you adjust glasses I did not buy here?

Yes, in most cases. Come in and we will take a look.

Book a fitting

Pick a time in our booking system, or call and we will find one with you.
